Do you own a gem and have a special cut that you want done?

Perhaps you want a stone for a special occasion, but what you see in the shops doesn’t light your fire?

Or maybe you have a poorly cut stone that you would like to have re-faceted?

Then I maybe of assistance.  My name is Laurie and I specialise in the custom cutting of mainly sapphires, quartz. zircon and topaz.  I have done so for the last 30 years.  It is my joy to work with imaginative designs in large colourful stones.  I promise to maximise the size of the stone using only the correct cutting practices that is no cuts below the critical angle.

Are you interested?  My pricing is quite competitive, although the actual price will depend what is required of the material.  However as a rough guide, usually recutting or faceting basic stones will cost about $20 per carat (not including postage and handling).

I do work with other stones besides the ones listed above.  I am prepared to work with, and have done so successfully in the past, other material like spodumene and apatite.  In fact I will pretty much work with anything other than diamond (only because I am not equipped to do so) nor will I carve or sculpt stones.  However anything that is not part of my main line of work will cost a bit extra per carat, the actual price to be negotiated.

The best way the contact me is by phone or email.  Please provide some contact details and a description of the work required.  Based on this I will offer a preliminary price.  If you already have stone which you want done, I will also provide mailing instructions as you will need to send me the stone for examination.  After examining the stone, I will offer a final quote before beginning work.

Please note when supplying your own stone, any work undertaken will be at the customer’s own risk.  If I evaluate a stone as being too risky to perform the work, then you will only be charged for the postage.
